July 25, 2018: Illinois Department of Public Health Fines Nursing Home after Patient Death -

This article discusses a case where a nursing home was fined $50,000. A patient's POLST was marked "Attempt Resuscitation/CPR", but resuscitation was not attempted and the patient died.

Although it does not specifically say, the article suggests that the POLST form also had "Comfort Measures Only" marked, therefore confusing the LPN on duty. So, it seems this was a case of a POLST not being completed correctly. If "Attempt Resuscitation" is marked, then only "Full Treatment" should be marked in Section B.
