Nevada POLST Legislation
The POLST form was originally introduced in the 2013 Nevada Legislative session as AB344, sponsored by Assemblyman David Bobzien. POLST legislation passed both the Assembly and Senate unanimously. Governor Sandoval signed it into law in June 2013.
The most recent legislative action regarding Nevada POLST was the passage of AB199 with a single “nea” vote. This legislation was sponsored by Assemblywoman Melissa Woodbury, Senator Joseph Hardy, MD and Assemblywoman Robin Titus, MD. The bill was signed into law by Governor Sandoval on May 24, 2017.
The new legislation will necessitate many changes to the practice of the POLST and the Nevada POLST form. The final bill language has not yet been provided to Nevada POLST. It will be posted here as soon as it is available. To receive a copy when available, please send your request and email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
